The Infection Control Nurses of Connecticut (ICNC) was established in 1984 by the Infection Control Nurses of New Haven County and Infection Control Nurses of Fairfield County. The organization was formed to assemble and unify all practicing infection preventionists in all health care settings and to improve infection control throughout the State of Connecticut.
ICNC is a not-for-profit association exempt from US taxation under Internal Revenue Code Section (501) (c3). It is governed and directed by the ICNC. State Board of Directors made up of officers elected every two years at the annual Fall Seminar/Meeting.
Membership is made up of nursing professionals from: Western CT, New Haven, Hartford, Eastern CT, and other statewide areas of Connecticut. Yearly dues, decided by the ICNC board, are paid to the chapter with a portion paid to the ICNC. State Board to help maintain the organization’s website, Infection Control Nurses of CT, www.infectioncontrolct.org. As many IPs are unable to leave work to attend chapter meetings, ICNC provides monthly online meetings with relevant infection control topic guest speakers.
The mission of ICNC is to promote evidence-based infection prevention and control practices to help reduce the risk of infections.
The goals of ICNC are to reduce the risk of infection to our residents, patients, families and staff; to strengthen collaborative ties with local and state health departments; to provide educational opportunities and develop protocols and guidelines related to infection prevention and control.
